A short sword is any flat, basically straight blade between about 60 and 100 centimetres in length (20-36 inches). Short swords are typically forged out of iron or steel. Blades less than 60 centimetres in length are considered daggers. Blades greater than one metre in length are considered either broadswords, longswords, or are classified as exotic swords such as scimitars, sabres, and falchions.
