Jelom Rasgar is gruff. He is a former sergeant of the guard in Erinsford. Like Talan and Bregon, he was discharged with honor from the Wyvern Guard before being sent to Waste's Edge by Duke Albrecht. The discharge, which Jelom resents openly, was necessary under Cirdan law. The Code of Fief and Vassal stipulates that Human lords in vassalage to the House of Soryn shall not expand their fiefdoms by dispatching officers of the peace to outlying settlements. Albrecht and all his forebears have dispatched former members of the Wyvern Guard to keep order in outlying settlements.

He came to Waste's Edge for the pay, which is very good, considering the fact that incidents of violence are uncommon. His typical week involves little more than standing guard, acting important, and handling small incidents with the dockhands.

Jelom is the eldest member of the local guard and considers any outside involvement in guard's business to be an insult. He dislikes Elves and Half-Elves, suspecting the Elves of looking down on him and the Half-Elves of wanting to rob him and his fellow Humans blind. He also has a dislike for Human rangers due to their generally ragged appearance and their close association with Half-Elvish folk. He likes Dwarves and most Humans. He also does not approve of magick or alchemy, preferring more tangible methods of getting things done. He has little good to say about the likes of Rymon and Solmanus.

Jelom, though a resentful of his discharge, still professes to serve Lord Albrecht. His knowledge of his Lord is detailed, but somewhat inaccurate. He knows nothing of Albrecht's dark schemes, instead respecting and admiring a version of Albrecht of Wyvernesse which no longer exists. Explanations of Albrecht's schemes would be wasted on Jelom and might even result in the end of his limited co-operation.
