Coris dunThalen was once an Elvish paladin. He was a contemporary of the priest Thalen who originally built Dun Endwe. At the end of his life, he gave an oath to continue to guard The Three Meridians, or what is now the area encompassing Waste's Edge, Arynsval, the Abbey of Shining Mist (and Dun Thalendu beneath it), and the ruins of Dun Barethsol, until his spirit should weaken and pass from the world. When he died, he was buried in a grotto carved into the ground of the Three Meridians by other paladins of his order. The runes and the sarcophagus built for him now house and focus his spiritual energies and allow him to exist in the world as a bladespectre.
Coris dunThalen's spirit now rests in the grotto built for him, but his hold on the world is weakening. He will soon need another soul to join him in guarding the lands, or his spirit will pass from the world. He is further weakened by the presence of a spirit of evil and malice - the Agdan - in the cemetery.
