Places:Waste's Edge:Cemetery:Grotto

The Grotto is the final resting place of an ancient Elvish paladin.

It is hidden beneath the current cemetery. The grotto is accessible through a portal in the trunk of the graveyard's "tree of life". There is no clear apparatus for climbing up and down through the portal. One is simply transported from portal into the grotto, where the paladin's sword, shield, and helmet are laid to rest.

The grotto itself consists of two chambers and the ante-chamber where one enters and leaves the grotto. The entrance (and exit) is no more than a stone slab marked with seven runes. At the center of the runes, there is a circle. One activates the portal by placing a hand in the circle.

The larger chamber holds the Paladin's sarchophagus. It has been magickally sealed and cannot be broken open. The paladin's sword, shield, and helmet return to the sarcophagus whenever the bladespectre is defeated in battle.

The smaller chamber holds a stone slab on which another body might have been laid to rest. If Marcella wishes to complete both parts of the Guardian's Rest quest, she would need to place one or both of the Golem's talismans on this slab.
