Talan is a firm believer in right, wrong, and his duty. He is embarrassed by his own penchant for leaving his post and singing in the wilderness. The irony of this habit is that he is a good enough singer that he needn't keep it a secret, or leave his post to go sing where none but passing Half-Elves could hear. He envies the Human rangers their contact with the Half-Elvish folk and their direct approach to doing what is right.

Talan Wendth is also a unofficial servant of Albrecht of Wyvernesse and just as much in the dark about his Lord as is Jelom. Whereas Jelom might remain in Albrecht's service out of duty or loyalty even if he knew about Albrecht's plans, Talan would leave the Lord's service at the first chance. Talan is an honest fellow, except when it comes to his singing.

Unlike Jelom, Talan likes nearly everyone who isn't a proven criminal. He especially likes Half-Elves because of their gift for singing. He envies the Human rangers their contact with the Half-Elvish folk and their direct approach to doing what is right.

Talan is good friends with the Redwynes and is on good terms with most of the other members of the Waste's Edge community. After the events surrounding the Lady Silverhair and Bjarn Fingolson, he has begun to do his singing openly and may be looking for an instructor.
