Uz of the Bay is the second capital city built by the Uzian people. The first they call Ner-Uz, meaning "First Uz". Ner-Uz was destroyed by Elves during the Great Wars. Its remains can be found at the bottom of the Bay.

At the time Ner-Uz was the capital, the Uzians did not rule the shores of the bay absolutely. Other smaller cities also maintained ports and claimed fishing rights. As a result of the Wars, these small city-states were all destroyed. The Uzians are now the masters of the Great Northern Bay. The Uzians, being a people of the great northern bay, practice deep-water burial. The bodies of warriors and other notable men are set adrift in burning ships, while the bodies of common folk are weighted and dropped overboard in deep water. An Uzian whose body is not consigned to the water is thought to be unable to be reborn.

They symbolize this mastery - and the loss of their first city - by minting their coins with a hole in the center.
