Rrelmer was also wounded in the initial attack on the monastery, but neither he nor his companions can explain how.

Rrelmer is the only member of Alek's core band who has no skill in melee combat. His father, a fletcher by trade and a hunter by necessity, taught Rrelmer to shoot and throw accurately when he was very young. He is never without his throwing knives. He also arms himself with a sling, a collection of stones, and a recurve horsebow made of yew and backed with ironwood.

Rrelmer is the newest member of the Enders. Alek and Tewr recruited him together somewhere in the forests of Aereng where he was working as a tracker and trail guide for groups of Human settlers moving south along the Elenstroem toward Elgilad and Cirdanth. He carries a gold coin from Erinsford as his marker.
