Characters:Adonthell:Goldeye
Goldeye Oreseeker
Quite pretty by Dwarvish standards, Goldeye is roughly the equivalent of a human 19 year old. She is quite intelligent and normally would take great pride in her people and her community. She has the capacity to love quite deeply. However, since the events that led to her husband's death, these parts of her soul have been sealed off. She is guided now by the anger she feels toward the injustices she has suffered, and the revenge she yearns to visit upon his murderer. Goldeye is physically very strong; her fervor only adds to her strength and iron determination. Goldeye's anger and innate stubbornness are a formidable combination and sustain her through almost any difficulty. It is difficult to say what will become of her if she finally gains the revenge she seeks.
Introductory Plot
The plot opens with a happy young dwarven bride in her home, preparing a lunch to take to her new husband of only a week. She obviously cares for him very much, and from the dialogue of the people she speaks with, this devotion is mutual. As she moves down the passage to where her husband is working, she is passed in the other direction by a form moving too quickly to see well. She is puzzled by this, and is about to call her husband when there is a huge cave-in. In the aftermath, she is taken and blamed for the cave-in, and required to prove her innocence by trial of arms (practice battle). She is told what to do, and wins, but the Dwarven Elders are still not convinced and rule that she be banished. Goldeye, recovering from the shock of what has happened, leaves with bitterness in her heart at the injustice she has received. She is told on her way out by a woman who was her Friend (and who even now only speaks to her when no one watches) that there is a search by the Council to find adventurers for a journey. Goldeye is interested, seeking anything which will take her far from her former home and sets off for the test.
