The leather vest is a very common kind of chest armour and is available for use by all races and classes.

The most basic leather vest is simply one or two layers of tanned animal hide stitched together into a garment. Some rangers wear these as much for clothing as for armour. Usually, if the vest still has fur on it, it is clothing first and armour second.

Improved leather vests are constructed in a variety of ways, including tying layers of leather together will metal studs.
