Samis Desorin is a Half-Elvish sheep and goat herder whose family migrated from Cirdanth to Aereng several centuries ago. They later migrated again along the shores of the Galorean Sea and down through the foothills of the Oreth-Arinyes. His name derives from Dun Saorayn, an ancient fortified lighthouse on the shores of the sea. Saorayn is the site of the original Cirdanth settlement.
Desorin is a Yetin monk who makes his living away from the Abbey, but becomes trapped within it once the attack on the Abbey begins. He and Lursan Waterpaw help get Abbot Tham to safety.
