The Elvish Bladespectre is an oddity among the undead of Adonthell. Unlike all other types of undead, they are good, having an alignment that ranges between +3 and +5.

These ghosts are the spirits of Elvish paladins who have sacrificed themselves to guard a specific place in the afterlife. Their spirits weaken over time and begin to vanish from the world, unless they can find willing warriors of good alignment to aid them, either by swearing to guard a specific person or place during their lives, or by pledging their own fallen spirits to the defense of the person, place, or ideal.

In combat, bladespectres can be defeated but not destroyed. When they are defeated, their weapons disappear instantly and return to their sarcophagi, where their energy rebuilds until they can do battle again. The time required for a bladespectre to regenerate is equal to 1 hour for every 5 health points to be regained. If a bladespectre is not completely defeated in combat (it has 1 or more health points remaining when combat ends), it regenerates instantly. For this reason, Bladespectres make excellent combat trainers.
